Sisters Together: Move More, Eat Better
The Central Jersey Alumnae Chapter has implemented a Community Health Initiative focused on improving the health of Black women. At the core of the initiative is the Sisters Together: Move More, Eat Better program. This is a health awareness program that encourages African American women 18 years and older to maintain a healthy weight by being more physically active and eating healthy foods. It is a project of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), through the Weight-control Information Network (WIN). Issues related to mental health and specific health concerns facing African American women were also incorporated into the basic structure of Sisters Together: Move More, Eat Better.
