The Central Jersey Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc was chartered in 1975. We are a sisterhood of over 400 hundred members proudly serving the New Jersey counties of  Somerset, Middlesex, and Union.

Our Leadership

Inspiring unity, resilience, and a commitment to excellence, our sorority chapter’s leadership team has made invaluable contributions to our sisterhood. Through innovative programming, mentorship initiatives, and community outreach, the leadership team continuously shapes our chapter into a dynamic and supportive community for all. Our leadership team works tirelessly to ensure that our chapter carries out the mission of our organization.

Our Mission

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is an organization of college educated women committed to the constructive development of its members and to public service with a primary focus on the Black community.

Our Charter Members

CJA was chartered by 30 trailblazing women who observed a need in the Central NJ region and worked collectively to fill that need by chartering the Central Jersey Alumnae chapter.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority History

DST Founders

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is a private, not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world.

Founded on January 13, 1913 by twenty-two collegiate women at Howard University, the sorority is a sisterhood of more than 200,000 predominantly Black, college educated women.

The sorority currently has 1,000 collegiate and alumnae chapters located in the United States, Canada, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Jamaica, West Africa and the Republic of Korea.

The major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization’s Five Point Programmatic Thrust.

The first public act performed by the Delta Founders involved their participation in the Women’s Suffrage March in Washington D.C., March 1913. Delta Sigma Theta was incorporated in 1930.
